She was the winner of The New Quarterly's 2014 Edna Staebler Personal Essay Award, a finalist for a National Magazine Award (Best New Magazine Writer, 2015) and shortlisted for the 2015 Constance Rooke Creative Nonfiction Prize at The Malahat Review.
